Piles of Books

As you know, I am currently tackling the behemoth that is WHEN CHRIST AND HIS SAINTS SLEPT. The British monarchy is slow going in the 1100's. It's basically who is supporting Stephen, who is betraying Stephen and joining Maude's cause. Maude's husband is a (insert bad word) and I just want someone to lob off his head "accidentally" in battle so I don't have to read about how awful and adulterous he is anymore. I mean I love the book, I do, but I've read almost 300 pages and nothing has truly happened. Some castles have been taken by force, villages plundered, but Maude and Stephen are still in the same place. I know Maude eventually wins the crown back, the coworker who urged me to read this book already told me in her haste to get me amped up to read it, so I'm not really in any rush to get through it.

My friend Kaitlin over at We Are The Tide has been asking me to read THE DISREPUTABLE HISTORY OF FRANKIE LANDAU-BANKS so we can discuss. And I promised I would but with 700 pages until the end of WHEN CHRIST AND HIS SAINTS SLEPT I was starting to get antsy. So shhh, don't tell my coworker, but I'm pausing on Stephen and Maude for a few days and starting FRANKIE. It looks to be a quick read and I'm loving it so far. I'm interested from a fellow YA author perspective, but also because it takes place at a private high school that sounds remarkably similar to the one I went to.

I also nabbed WONDER and 13 REASONS WHY. I have a six hour flight coming up in less than two weeks so I'm trying to decide what to pack, although it's a red eye so really I should sleep during that time...

Happy Reading!
~Stephanie
