The Ever-growing Pile

A few months ago I ran out of space in my bookcase.  It is completely books.  Cookbooks, picture books, YA, memoir, travel books, literary fiction.  And it's a mess.  They are shoved on top of each other, each scrabbling for a spot.  And yet my problem continues.  The pile of "as yet to be read" books grows by my bed.

I haven't counted, there's no point since there's no space for any of them, but there's easily thirty.  And yesterday I bought two more.  My mom thinks I have a shoe problem (that's not unfounded), but what she fails to realize is that I have a problem with books.

What I need, what would resolve the issue, is a bigger bookcase.  However, in a 375 sq ft apartment there's limited space for floor to ceiling shelving.  So until I move out, I suppose all I can do is keep them in piles and hope I don't trip.

Currently reading George R.R. Martin's "A Storm of Swords" (that's the third book in the "Game of Thrones" series, in case you were wondering).  What are you reading?
