The Chalet: M&M Bathroom Reveal

Remember the M&M bathroom? I barely do. If not for this photo I probably would have forgotten about it. Scrolling through my before photos I realize I didn't take as many as I should have. Why do I do that to myself? It always feels like I've taken a ton of photos and then when I look back to do the final post on a certain room I'm scrolling and scrolling through the file and can't find the shot I want. Maybe I'll learn on the next house...

Anywho, back to the bathroom. We removed the window (you shouldn't have windows in a shower), the cast iron tub, the toilet, and the vanity, tore out the linoleum floor, removed the door... nothing original stayed. In went new everything. The tile is the same as the top floor bathroom and the vanity is the same brand as in the top floor bathroom, but a single sink instead.

I'm not sure if I mentioned it in another post, but we decided to use the same paint color as we used in Porchlandia - Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter HC-172. I think it's technically in the grey family, but it feels very earthy to me, like there's a hint of taupe. What can I say, I love my neutrals.

Again, I like open-bottom vanities, and the ones I chose had really cute handles. They have a rustic edge but the clean white marble on top makes it feel modern. I'm learning though, that white marble is very difficult to keep pristine. The littlest bit of dirt shows. So going forward I'm going to have to consider that.

But I'm happy with how the tile turned out. White tile on walls just looks so luxurious and though we used white grout on the last house (with white tiles), I much prefer the grey grout. It looks cleaner (white grout can easily appear dirty).

Anywho, I've got to cut this short because there's a kitty pulling a full-blown Stewie next to me (Mum, mum, mum, mummy...), but there are more reveals to come.

  1. You guys uncover the strangest things in every house! A M&M window cling INSIDE a shower?? This transformation is gorgeous and the mirror worked out beautifully!

  2. I like the grey-grout look! And making cleaning easier is the best bonus! If the house was just those two bathrooms and nothing else, I'd still buy it. :D
