The Chalet: Front Entry

I forgot until looking at these photos that when we bought The Chalet there weren't exactly floors in some of the house. Like the entryway, which only had sub floors, but not real hardwood or even laminate. The front window was boarded up because the glass was smashed, and it was pretty dark when the door was closed.

One of the first things I did was remove the railing so carrying demo out would be easier and once my dad and I removed the board and he replaced the window the area completely transformed. Unrelated, who keeps a mini fridge by the front door? Is it so you can grab a water on the way out?

I love the front door. I do. I think that in a house of muted colors - white trim, light hardwood, Revere Pewter walls, I think it's important to have something stand out. The color blue is said to be calming as well, so why not see that as you start your day or end it. It's my favorite color so you'll see it again in my staging of other rooms.

The black chair was left behind by the previous owners and I decided to keep it for staging. I don't think this space needs much, just a spot to throw down your keys, sit to take your shoes off, catch your kids as they race out the door, etc.

So what do you think?
