Procrastination Recipe: Apple Crisp

This past weekend I drove out to Bolton Orchards with two girlfriends for a relaxation day. We ate fresh, hot apple cider donuts and then brought some apples home for me to bake with.

Ingredients:
4-5 apples (I believe these were Macoun)
A couple sprinkles of cinnamon
Juice of one lemon
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 stick softened butter

Peel and cut the apples (quick note - if you dice them then the apples bake down into a chunky apple sauce which is DELICIOUS in my opinion, though I realize not everyone likes that). Stir with lemon juice and whatever amount of cinnamon you're comfortable with.

Combine softened butter with oats, flour, brown sugar and another pinch/pour of cinnamon. Place apples in the bottom of a dish (in this case I used a bread tin wince we didn't want to make too much) and crumble the flour/oats mixture over.

Bake at 350 degrees F until the top is lightly brown. Serve warm with ice cream or let cool. So, so good. Especially on a chilly Fall night.

What are your favorite Fall foods??

Happy Eating!
