Procrastination Recipe: Peach and Blueberry Crumble

This past weekend I went home to see my grandparents. They live in South Carolina and came up for the weekend. I hadn't seen them in over a year and I spent the workday Friday feeling like it was Christmas Eve and I just couldn't wait to get home and see them.

My grandparents had brought a basket of peaches up with them and I am not over-exaggerating when I say that these were the best peaches I've had. They were perfect. So we decided to make a dessert with them to go with our grilled surf and turf dinner.

Ingredients:
Cup of fresh blueberries
6-7 peaches, peeled and sliced
Half stick of butter, softened
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup oats
1/2 tsp nutmeg
juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 cup flour

*I only helped with the peeling and slicing of the peaches so I am not 100% on the measurements of the topping but I'm making an estimate of what I think she used - I really don't think you can go wrong with it.

In a casserole or cake pan, pour blueberries and peaches. In a separate bowl combine all other ingredients. Pour crumble on top of fruit and spread out so it covers most of the fruit.

Bake at 350 degrees until the top starts to brown slightly, about 35-40 minutes. Serve warm or cooled.

My grandmother was annoyed that we didn't have any vanilla ice cream to serve with it (or whipped cream) and I was too lazy to drive to the store to get some. But that would kick the dessert up a notch, especially if served it warm.

Happy Eating!
